I was born in the Republic of Panama the youngest of two and moved to Austin, Texas in September 2000 when I was 25 years old. I remember clearly the day in Kindergarten when looking at my drawings I realized that people are not a bunch of stick figures, we wear clothes and our bodies have shape. So even with the limitations of a little girl I started drawing objects the way they were supposed to be, at least attempting so. Later on in elementary the same thing happened to me. This thought saying ” There must be a way to make this drawing as real and identical as the real thing”. After that I was obsessed with copying exactly what I saw. In High School I concentrated on portraits, all pencil work they weren’t that perfect. College helped me a lot to improve in technique.
Getting my first tattoo at the age of 16 sparked the desire of tattooing but it was not an easy road for me to get started. I moved to Texas and started my life all over again, alone, new culture, foreign language and no money it took me a while to keep up with tattooing. I was in my late 20’s before I really got the chance to improve my talents and become a full time tattoo artist when a shop in McAllen, TX accepted me as their new apprentice. I took this opportunity to not let go and keep learning. I’ve been tattooing professionally for 5 years, still learning, still concentrating on doing my best. I relocated here in NC a year ago and I call this place the blessing of God because for random reasons I ended up finding true love here and an awesome place to work.
My name is Allison Phelps and I am 31 years old. I reside in the Clemmons area. I graduated from High Point University in 2006 with a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education. I currently attend East Carolina University and will receive my Masters degree in Reading Education in May of this year. I have a passion for helping and working with others. I am a first grade teacher at Brunson Elementary in Winston-Salem. I have been teaching for eight years. I have taught first, second, and third grade. I am also a customer Service manager at DejaVu Tattoo & Body Piercing Studio inside of Hanes Mall. Although I have always had a fascination for the art of tattoing I waited and got my first one at the age of 28. Now I have a total of 6 and several more are in the works. My goal is to one day be a part of the business and help our shop and artists make a true name in the industry.
My Name is Eric Mills, I was born in Maryland but raised in Winston Salem, North Carolina. I have been tattooing professionally for about four years and don't really prefer any style over another ... I enjoy all of it! I have a beautiful little girl named Jazlyn and I am a DIE HARD Washington Redskins fan!
Hanna is my name and piercing is my game! I was born in Winston-Salem, NC in 1990 and haven't strayed too far from home ever since. I attended South Fork Elementary, Thomas Jefferson Middle, and graduated with college credits from West Forsyth High. I got my first tattoo when I was eighteen and became fully attracted to the body art/modification industry. It wasn't until I got a job at Deja Vu Tattoo and Piercing as a Customer Service Representative that I was able to fully explore my options as a professional body piercer. I began an apprenticeship under the piercer at Deja Vu where I acquired the shared knowledge of Jimmy McDowell. I sought out more knowledge of piercing through text on the Association of Professional Piercers (APP) website, books, and manuals. When Jimmy felt that I had learned all I could from the books he told me it was time for some hands on experience, and ever since my first professional client (my mother!) I haven't looked back! I have the staff at Deja Vu Tattoo and Piercing, including our ambitious and always supportive owner Mitch, to thank for standing behind me while I worked toward achieving my goals of becoming a professional body piercer.
My name is Heather Newsome. I am 29 year old single mom of a lil boy! He is my life and could not imagine not being a parent! I work hard at giving us the best possible life we can have. I am huge fan of tattoos and piercings. I currently have a sleeve and many more! Its the way I express myself! I love my job here at Deja Vu and feel honored to be able to call my fellow coworkers my family!
My name is Jimmy, I was raised in Kernersville NC in the 70's, 80's and 90's, I got my first tattoo on my 18th birthday and soon after that fell in love with the art. I got a piercing kit that me and one of my tattooing buddies ordered out of a catalog and started my craft. Self taught from the start with a LOT of trial and error, mostly successful by the way haha, I soon began my professional career as a Body Piercer. I've been at it for 18 years now and I love what I do and couldn't ask to be in a better place in my life right now.
My name is Tony Fleshman. I am a 40 year old father of two. Currently I am the Manager and Lead Artist at Déjà Vu Tattoo & Body Piercing Studio, located in Hanes Mall. I have been tattooing for eight years but have always had a passion for art and drawing since early childhood. The ability to draw and sketch is one of my best talents. I enjoy many styles. Among my favorite are thick, bold new school designs with rich, saturated color, however, realism of the black and gray spectrum is also a strength.
Over the years I have spread my permanent artwork throughout the Winston-Salem/Triad area. I have built strong friendships and bonds with my clientele while pursuing a career in this ever popular and growing industry. My ultimate goal is to be one of the strongest, most sought after tattoo artist on the East Coast.
My name is Adrian Sheppard. I have been a professional body piercer for 21yrs. My journey as a piercer started in May of 1991 and has taken me far and wide piercing. When I'm not at the shop, I'm spending time with my lovely wife Andrea and two lovely daughters, Hunter and Ashton.
My name is Zachery Wright. I am 27 years old. I am married and have 2-year old twin boys. I am originally from Lexington, NC and currently reside in McLeansville, NC. I have been tattooing for four years and have enjoyed every minute. I have always had a passion for drawing and love creating unique pieces for my clients. My dream is to become one of the most well-known artists around.
